ANTI-SNOB RADAR: Indie Rock News From All Over The Web, All Around The World (10/01/08)
- A live CD of a recent Brian Jonestown Massacre performance in Australia was released this past week. It can be found at The Hi Fi Live website, which licenses and releases performances from the famous Hi Five venue in Melbourne.
- We got word on who and what will be the "Coolest Song In The World" on Little Steven's Underground Garage radio show this coming week...and it's ANTI-SNOB's favorite retro-rockers The Love Me Nots. Check out where you can hear Little Steven's Underground Garage by visiting the affliate page. Or you can hear it on the 24-7 on Sirius channel .
- Anyone see Alice Cooper last night on the Craig Ferguson show? Long live Alice. I haven't heard the new album Along Came A Spider yet, but I really liked the glammy pop he did on his last record Dirty Diamonds. Alice Cooper was my first taste of glam/theatrical pop. I was probably 7 when my stepdad would play Welcome To My Nightmare around the house, which was a year before I discovered his Bowie and Stooges records (which seemed to be hidden in his room away from his main collection in the living room for some reason). Below is a video of his last appearance on the show in which he performed his classic hit "Elected".
- Washington DC's Adam West has had a long and storied career championing a gritty style of Stooges/Sabbath inspired hard rock. Many of the locals consider the band, as well as singer Jake Starr and his label Fandango, as possibly the "anti-Dischord" favoring less politically correct punk rock while gloryfying more prolific rock movements like the Scandinavian Rock Explosion of the late 90s. Well, it looks like Adam West will finally be laying their 15 plus year efforts to rest. A farewell performance is scheduled for November 8 at the DC9 club and a farewell European tour is also scheduled. This all coincides with their final album ESP: Extra Sexual Perception. European tour dates can be found here. But if I was living in D.C., I would not miss their final show on November 8th.
